“Hot & Sour is a four part experimental web series that follows a man’s quest to retrieve his small intestine after it was extracted from him by a sadistic loan shark. Each section of Hot & Sour was shot to emulate a different style of filmmaking while still serving the narrative. It was shot over the course of 12 days in 2024 on a shoestring budget with a dedicated (and ever evolving) cast and crew.”

Jack Gross is admittedly a staple upcoming filmmaker of Austin in the eyes of Unucky 13 and we wanted to address our bias towards his work. However, if you've had the ability to see one of the many things he's created from music videos, spec ads, to visually stunning narratives, you likely understand the bias.

Hot & Sour was no easy feat to make. Each part had a distinct vision that was all part of a cohesive larger story and that required many days of filmming, various cast and crew positons needing to be filled depending on which part was filming, and an array of locations. This web series has Jack's style all over it.

Every member of this project should be celebrated for their dedication and hardwork. Be sure to check out all four parts and the other work that the cast and crew of this series is doing now!
